    Chicago!

    Currently playing at the
Apollo Theater in Chicago we are currently casting for the Chicago Company to start
rehearsal in June and open in July for a six month run.

    MALE-IDENTIFYING SINGERS
We actively encourage applications from performers of all
ethnicities or heritages, of all shapes and sizes.

Please note that some roles require
instrumental skills – please send a sample of you playing in your audition
    submission All performers require
excellent singing voices and the ability to comfortably sustain close harmonies.

    THE ROMANTIC
A serial dater, THE ROMANTIC is always
falling in love. He has had his heart broken a few times, even if he doesn’t
always like to admit it. This is an extremely vocally-demanding role -
candidates must be comfortable singing at the top of their range for the
majority of the show. THE ROMANTIC needs to be able to belt out “Welcome to the
Jungle” with powerful rock vocals, and also be able to sing Adele’s “Hello”,
    with warmth and sensitivity. HIGH TENOR. Full voice pop belt up to top C5;
strong, controlled high falsetto to F5. Basic rhythm guitar preferred, but not
    necessary.

    THE JOKER
THE JOKER is the heart and soul of the
pub - always quick to crack a joke, tease a mate or pretend to spill a drink on
the audience - he’s great fun to be around. The role requires an excellent
pop/rock voice. HIGH TENOR. Full voice up to top C#5; strong, controlled high
falsetto. Intermediate piano (chords) required, and ability to play or learn
    intermediate guitar, banjo and ukulele.

    THE HARD MAN
THE HARD MAN may look tough but has a
heart of gold. Passionate and loyal, he fights for what he believes in - always
ready to stand up for what’s right. Despite his menacing appearance - he’s not
one for smiling - THE HARD MAN is a fierce friend, always putting his mates
first. Must have a great rock/pop lead voice. TENOR. Full pop-rock voice to top
A4; strong, controlled falsetto. Basic piano (block chords), or ability to
    learn.

    THE BARMAN
THE BARMAN owns The Jungle, the pub in
which the show is set. The role requires an instinctive actor with natural
authority. THE BARMAN pulls pints and chats to audience members, before and
during the show, so confidence and the ability to improvise verbally, is a
bonus. He sings two of the big comedy numbers in the show, requiring huge
energy and personality. TENOR. Full pop/rock voice with belt to at least A4,
plus strong, controlled high falsetto with excellent choral blend - the ability
to mix is desired. No specific instruments are required, but please do mention
any instrumental skills candidates might have.

    THE MAESTRO

    THE MAESTRO has the piano-playing
skills of Rachmaninov and the drinking skills of Rab C. Nesbitt. He enjoys
showing off his piano skills, but is equally happy having a quiet pint on his
own, or with his mates. TENOR. Full voice to A4, plus falsetto, with ability to
control and blend chorally throughout his range. Outstanding technical piano
skills, music-reading ability and overall musicality. Classical or Jazz
training preferred. Ability to be both creative and consistent with piano
    playing, and adapt as required.

    THE POET

THE POET is the only person in the pub
who speaks to the audience during the show. He must be incredibly warm, witty
and likeable. He’s the friendly voice that guides the show and sets the tone
for the evening. He must have authority and vulnerability at the same time, and
above all must feel real - no acting required. Regional accents preferred.
BARITONE - Characterful, warm, baritone voice. Full-voice range spanning G2 to
G4, plus falsetto. Intermediate piano skills (or willingness to learn the
required piano pieces) is required, in addition to learning a basic
    piano-accordion part.

    THE HANDYMAN (TAPPER)

    The HANDYMAN has outstanding rhythmic
tap and improvised tap skills. He also has a very strong ensemble singing
voice. BARITONE. Smooth baritone voice. Full-voice range spanning G2 to A4,
plus falsetto. Requirement to learn basic trumpet, unless already possessing a
similar instrumental skill (saxophone, clarinet), by approval of the creative
    team.

    THE BEAST

THE BEAST is a “bloody great boulder”
of a man “who builds houses by day and reads Plath after dark”. He’s the
classic big softie – looks intimidating but with a beautiful solo voice and
incredible guitar skills. LOW BARITONE. Warm soulful/folky/blues voice.
Full-voice range spanning E2 to F4, plus strong, controlled falsetto.
Outstanding acoustic guitar required with ability to lead an ensemble
rhythmically, fingerpick creatively, solo impressively and adapt as required.

    THE BORE

THE BORE has an outstanding bass voice
with a rich, full tone and natural resonance. He has a wonderful and impressive
solo tone unlike any other characters in the show, whether that is operatic or
infused with blues and soul. He is the butt of many of the jokes in the pub,
but everyone respects his voice and his knowledge. He looks unassuming, but
when he sings, the pub lights up. BASS. Bottom D2 to F4. Basic piano skills,
and strong rhythmic coordination (rhythmic ability sufficient to play cajon
confidently). Ability to play or learn basic ukulele.
